Job summary

Pride Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support a healthcare facility in Schaumburg, IL. This is a 13-week contract with the potential for extension or conversion.

The role is on the 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 6:00 PM-2:30 AM, local contract. Pay range is $28-$32 per hour, offered based on experience, credentialing, and education.

Qualifications

• One of the following educational backgrounds is required/preferred based on applicable laboratory qualification standards
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biology
• Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• National certification or eligibility for MT/MLS/MLT (ASCP or AMT) is expected, Illinois licensure/credentials as applicable

Responsibilities

• Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, testing, reporting, and record maintenance
• Analyze patient specimens using approved testing procedures and department SOPs
• Review and release laboratory test results accurately
• Perform and document quality control activities
• Perform instrument and procedural calibrations and document required maintenance
• Identify issues that may affect test performance or result reporting and take appropriate corrective action
• Notify the senior technologist or supervisor of problems when necessary
• Document corrective actions when testing systems deviate from established performance specifications
• Follow procedures for reporting STAT and critical results to clients
• Maintain complete and accurate records of testing performed on-site
• Ensure reagents and test kits are properly dated, including receipt, expiration, and opening dates when applicable

Requirements

Education: One of the following educational backgrounds is required/preferred based on applicable laboratory qualification standards

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biology
• Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• Previously qualified as a Technologist under applicable CLIA requirements
• National certification or eligibility for certification as an MT/MLS/MLT through a recognized organization such as ASCP or AMT is expected
• Illinois state licensure/credentials are required as applicable
• Years of experience:
• 1 year of clinical laboratory experience with high-complexity testing preferred
• Skills/Specialties/Technology: Candidates with a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology should have a minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing
