Responsibilities

• Perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests within scope of licensure across all laboratory disciplines following SOPs.
• Understand method principles, perform quality control, preventative maintenance, review, and analyze results for accuracy and acceptability.

Minimum Qualifications

For West Virginia Labs

• Associate of Science (AAS) in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science, or a science degree with one year of clinical lab training/experience.
• WV Licensure as a Laboratory Technician (MLT) within 90 days of hire.

For Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland Labs

• Same educational requirements as above.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or AMT.

Experience

• Experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician preferred.

Core Duties

• Process and analyze samples timely and accurately.
• Maintain and adjust laboratory instruments.
• Perform quality control and infection control procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Complete reports and communicate findings.
• Interact professionally with healthcare team and patients.
• Recognize testing inconsistencies and take corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Follow safety and compliance guidelines.

Physical & Work Environment

• Require strength, stamina, and mobility for various tasks.
• May work around odors and exposure to agents causing disease.

Additional Information

This position involves training for 10-12 weeks, then working evening shifts including rotating weekends and holidays. A degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may suffice for candidates with a BSc in related sciences.
