We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Technologist I to join our Special Chemistry Team in Indianapolis, IN!

Scheduled Shift: First Shift

Pay Range: All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, relevant experience, degrees/certifications, and market data.

Essential Functions
  1. Perform clinical laboratory testing accurately and timely.
  2. Resolve pendings, check specimens, document discrepancies, and notify management of unresolved issues.
  3. Prepare workstations and operate instruments per procedures.
  4. Handle specimens properly and resolve technical issues.
  5. Perform routine testing, calculations, and resolve assay problems.
  6. Ensure test result validity through quality assurance and control procedures.
  7. Document QC results, interpret according to Westgard rules, and record biases or violations.
  8. Document corrective actions for unusual occurrences.
  9. Analyze proficiency testing samples as patient specimens.
  10. Manage reagents/materials/supplies, including receipt, labeling, and inventory control.
  11. Enter results manually or via auto-verification, ensuring peer review and proper documentation.
  12. Maintain instruments and troubleshoot as needed.
  13. Calibrate instruments and perform maintenance according to SOPs.
  14. Comply with regulations and SOPs at all times.
  15. Maintain up-to-date training and perform competency assessments.
  16. Assist in training new employees and attend scheduled meetings and training.
  17. Collaborate with internal and external customers, providing timely data and responses.
  18. Demonstrate proficiency in applicable computer systems.
  19. Follow safety policies, maintain a clean work environment, and minimize hazards.
  20. Take on additional responsibilities as presented and report activities upon request.
  21. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Qualifications/Certifications and Licenses

Must qualify as testing personnel under CLIA 1988 and NY State Department of Health, with options including:

  • Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science with a 12-month training, or
  • Bachelor’s in a life science plus one year of relevant training/experience, or
  • 90 semester hours including specified biology, chemistry, and math courses, with clinical training or experience, or
  • Associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology.
