Job summary

Concentra is hiring a Medical Support Specialist to perform routine medical testing and care under supervision. You will support registration, testing, and referral management while ensuring excellent patient experience in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities include performing DOT/non-DOT tests, vital signs, specimen collection, assisting clinicians, and front/back office duties with HIPAA compliance and quality documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, or 1+ year of direct patient care.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology.
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements preferred.
• Strong service mental attitude with attention to detail and sense of urgency.
• Ability to maintain HIPAA and PHI compliance in all tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; teamwork with leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including vital signs and ancillary testing.
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
• Assist providers during examination and treatment.
• Triage emergent patients and perform routine medical procedures as ordered.
• Assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care.
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the clinician.
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered in accordance with state regulations.
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
• Operate medical devices and maintain calibration records.
• Notify supervisor if equipment malfunctions or supplies are needed.
• Support patient flow and inform patients of wait times.
