Job summary

Concentra is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our Corpus Christi patient care team. The MSS performs routine medical tasks under clinician supervision and supports in registration and referral management to ensure a smooth patient experience.

The role requires handling vital signs, testing, triage, and documentation, with emphasis on quality care, efficiency, and excellent patient interactions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience (must meet credentials in the state of employment).
• Customarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experience; knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology; working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, and assist with testing such as vaccines, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiograms, and respirator fit testing.
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
• Assist providers during examinations and treatments.
• Triage emergent patients and handle routine procedures as directed.
• Handle front-office duties: check in/out, verify authorizations, manage wait times, and answer multi-line phones.
