Job summary

Concentra in Louisville, KY is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to join our patient care team. You will perform routine medical procedures, assist clinicians, and manage front-office duties to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Qualified candidates have a medical assistant education or related direct care experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and familiarity with HIPAA. We offer comprehensive benefits and a supportive, fast-paced work environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, or at least one year of direct patient care.
• At least six months of medical assistant experience.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminology.
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for examinations including vital signs and testing.
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, glucose, etc.).
• Assist providers during examination and treatment.
• Triage emergent patients and perform routine procedures as ordered.
• Prepare and assist with procedure setup and injury care.
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered.
• Dispense medications and DME per clinician guidance and state regulations.
• Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and devices.
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and stock exam rooms.
• Operate medical devices and calibrate with proper documentation.
• Notify supervisor if equipment or supplies are insufficient.
• Assist with patient flow and communicate wait times.
• Perform front-office duties and ensure accurate documentation.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
• Attend staff meetings and training as required.
