Job Summary:
The Medical Services Coordinator serves as a point of contact to coordinate medical care, support patients and psychiatric clinicians, and ensure quality customer service to in-person and remote patients and clinicians.

Compensation: $19.00 - 20.00/hour

Location: 5131 River Club Dr. Suite 200, Suffolk, VA 23435


Duties/Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence:
  • Create a positive work environment; support in-office clinician and staff engagement activities to promote LFST culture and connection.
  • Provide strong customer service, responding quickly and appropriately to patient needs, including managing potentially difficult or emotional situations.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, clinicians, and patients to support patient care and satisfaction.
Patient Support:
  • Assist clinicians with patient care tasks such as authorizations, lab orders, letters, records requests, and paperwork like FMLA.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, medical staff, and pharmacies.
  • Manage phone systems to handle medication questions, refill requests, appointment reschedules, and inquiries.
  • Ensure accuracy of pharmacy information in records.
  • Scan correspondence into the EHR.
  • Assist patients with telehealth access, portal issues, and troubleshooting.
  • Handle urgent requests and triage patient issues.
  • Coordinate external referrals as needed.
Clinician Support:
  • Support clinicians administratively, such as sending letters and faxes.
  • Coordinate with clinicians on patient questions.
  • Assist in patient termination processes, including letters and referrals.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EMRs.
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality (HIPAA).
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1+ years in healthcare operations, customer service, or similar preferred.
