Skilled Nursing Facilities | On-site with Local Travel

Compensation: 1099 Position/$23-27 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Approximately 30-40 hours per week

About the Opportunity

California Wound Healing Medical Group (CalWound) is assisting one of its wound care providers in recruiting an experienced Medical Scribe to support patient rounds across multiple skilled nursing facilities.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a wound care provider, supporting accurate, timely clinical documentation in a mobile, facility-based setting. The scribe will accompany the provider during patient encounters, document information in the electronic medical record (EMR), and help prepare complete encounter notes for provider review.

We are seeking someone with prior medical scribing experience, strong medical terminology knowledge, and the organizational skills to keep pace with patient rounds and travel between facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Accompany the provider during patient rounds at assigned skilled nursing facilities.
• Document patient encounters in real time, accurately capturing the provider’s findings, assessments, procedures, and treatment plans.
• Prepare and update encounter notes in the EMR for provider review and finalization.
• Review documentation for completeness and consistency, clarifying missing or unclear information with the provider.
• Keep documentation current while managing the workflow across multiple facility locations.
• Communicate professionally with the provider, facility staff, and other members of the care team.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable privacy, documentation, and facility requirements.
• Travel between assigned skilled nursing facilities throughout the workday.

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience working as a Medical Scribe.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and comfort navigating electronic patient records.
• Strong typing, listening, and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Ability to document accurately while following the pace of patient rounds.
• Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive patient information.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel between multiple facilities.
• Availability for approximately 30-40 hours per week, with flexibility based on the provider’s rounds and facility schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience documenting wound care encounters.
• Familiarity with skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, or similar clinical environments.

Schedule and Work Environment

This is an on-site role requiring attendance during provider rounds and travel between multiple skilled nursing facilities throughout the day. Hours and facility assignments will vary based on the provider’s patient caseload and rounding schedule.

Compensation and Engagement Arrangement

Compensation is $23-$27 per hour, depending on experience.

The proposed arrangement is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, subject to confirmation of appropriate classification. The selected candidate would contract with and be paid directly by the provider. CalWound is assisting with recruitment and candidate sourcing; the provider would be responsible for the engagement.
