Job summary

INNOVATIVE MEDICAL GROUP is seeking an experienced medical scribe to support our providers at post-acute hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. The role requires 6–12 months of scribing experience and involves real-time documentation, pre-charting, patient intake, and review of medical records to assist with exams and treatments.

We are a teaching medical group offering opportunities to advance toward mid-level providers. Experience with PCC, Athena, or Cerner EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates confidentiality with patients of all ages.
• Performs real-time scribing to ensure proper documentation.

• Records documentation in electronic health records promptly.
• Follows HIPAA and clinic policies.
• Assist with medical billing as needed.

Job description:

We are a growing Internal Medicine Group looking for an experienced medical scribe (6-12 months of scribing experience) to scribe for our providers at post-acute hospitals/skilled nursing facilities. Your role would be to provide high-quality patient care while performing a variety of tasks that include but are not limited to; review and reporting of patient medical records, pre-charting, patient intake, and real-time scribing to assist care providers in the examination and treatment of patients.

We are a teaching medical group so that you can advance your career in the medical field and prepare for further advancement to mid-level providers or higher. Experience, with PCC, Athena or Cerner EMR is preferred.

The schedule does vary depending on the providers you are paired with

Major Position Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates the ability to work with patients of all ages with diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds while always maintaining confidentiality.
• Performs real-time scribing with providers to ensure proper documentation of the visit.
• Collects patient history and performs pre-charting to review with a physician.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and follows company standards and policies.
• Records patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in electronic health records in a timely manner.
• Adheres to all medical practice policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
• Performs other duties as necessary including assisting with medical billing.
• Safety and Infection Control Responsibilities.
• Responsible to maintain a safe and clean work environment, including unit based specific safety and infection control requirements.

Qualifications:

• ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, & EXPERIENCE.
• 6 months experience as a medical scribe is REQUIRED. 1 year of experience is PREFERRED.
• Ability to relate and work with people of all authority levels, ages, social and ethnic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated knowledge of computer technology, including word processing, spreadsheet, and databases, required.
• Must have dependable transportation.
• Must work work weekends.
