Job summary

Avera Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine in Sioux Falls is seeking a Scheduling Specialist to manage pre-authorizations, verify benefits, schedule procedures, and coordinate a comprehensive surgery schedule. The role supports physicians and patients with accurate documentation and timely referrals.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of medical terminology, a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred), and 1–3 years in a medical scheduling or billing role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Associate's degree in medical secretarial field preferred.
• 1–3 years experience as a scheduler, biller, or in a medical office.

Responsibilities

• Obtains information from physician offices to schedule tests, procedures and admissions.
• Facilitates coordination of a plan of care across hospital departments.
• Coordinates care between facilities and telemedicine for continuity of care.
• Maintains physician calendar and procedure schedule; handles coordinating orders.
