Job summary

The US Oncology Network is hiring a Scheduler for our Texas Oncology location in McKinney. This full-time role supports scheduling patient appointments and tests with a Monday–Friday schedule, 8:30am–5pm, with no weekends, calls, or major holidays.

Roles vary from entry to senior level depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, medical office experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-3 years’ experience preferably in a medical office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling, and/or authorization experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Level 2: minimum three years office experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Level Sr: minimum five years office experience, preferably in a medical office setting, knowledge of medical terminology and coding required.

Responsibilities

• Answers all incoming calls; assesses callers’ needs and directs to appropriate personnel and pages clinic personnel as appropriate.
• Schedules new patients, patient referrals and returning patients with physician/office guidelines; sets up in system with documentation and coding; cancels/reschedules as needed.
• Obtains and enters all insurance authorizations and referrals in EMR.
• Collects co-pays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket amounts at visit.
• Maintains primary office scheduling template including physician meetings and satellite schedule.
• Arranges for financial counseling as needed.
• Protects patient confidentiality and adheres to policies and procedures.
• Performs front office duties and supports others as requested.
• May schedule outpatient appointments/tests/surgeries and hospital admissions; obtain pre-certification.
• Communicates surgery/test details to patients and coordinates prep work.
