Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Medical Scheduler to join our team in Louisville. This role schedules patients for follow-up visits and necessary tests, coordinating with clinicians and clinical staff across multiple specialties.

Responsibilities include obtaining authorizations, guiding patients through procedures, and using systems like Allscripts and Centricity. A high school diploma is required and two years of scheduling experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/Equivalent is required.
• Two (2) years of scheduling in a multi-specialty clinic is preferred.
• Direct patient interaction is part of the role.
• Familiarity with HIPAA privacy and security guidelines is expected.

Responsibilities

• Schedule follow up/return visits for patients.
• Obtain pre-certifications and pre-authorizations as needed.
• Schedule medical tests and procedures for patients.
• Explain procedure instructions to patients clearly.
• Call patients to schedule procedures and provide follow-up instructions.
• Access information from Allscripts, Centricity and other hospital systems.
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA rules.
• Demonstrate friendly and helpful behavior.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
