Job summary

Cognito LLC, a PSI joint venture, seeks a Medical Records Technician to support IHSC at the Houston Contract Detention Facility. You will manage electronic health records, schedule and track appointments, and ensure complete, accurate documentation while maintaining confidentiality.

The role requires flexibility for shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year in a healthcare setting, proficiency with MS Office and SharePoint, and a Heartsaver

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting as a Medical Records Technician or similar role.
• Experience processing electronic medical/health records daily.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, update, and maintain patient medical records.
• Manage appointment system for patients and clinical staff.
• Track compliance with scheduled appointments and send reminders.
• File/scan lab, radiology, and other reports in the eMR.
• Route clinical reports to appropriate staff within timelines.
• Archive records per IHSC policy and timelines.
• Review documentation for completeness and route for correction.
• Work with multiple systems to process narrative and tabular data in eHR.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
