Job summary

Cognito LLC, a Planned Systems International (PSI) joint venture, seeks a Medical Records Technician to support the ICE Health Services Corps at the El Paso Processing Center in El Paso, TX. The MRT will manage the electronic health record for IHSC, handling scanning, filing, data entry, and routine quality checks to ensure accurate and accessible information for clinicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Heartsaver CPR AED certification required.
• At least 1 year healthcare experience as Medical Records Technician or similar.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint preferred.
• Background check and drug screen required; immunizations up to date.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records and HIPAA/Privacy Act.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electronic health records (eHR) for IHSC and ensure accuracy.
• Receive, scan, file, and update medical documentation.
• Manage appointment system and reminders for IHSC staff.
• Route reports to clinic staff and ensure timely completion.
• Protect patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinate with staff during emergencies and 24/7 operations.
• Perform data entry and run reports from the eHR system.
