Job summary

Cognito LLC, a Planned Systems International (PSI) joint venture, is seeking a PRN Medical Records Technician to support IHSC at T. Don Hutto Detention Center in Taylor, TX.

You will maintain electronic medical records, schedule and track appointments, and ensure confidentiality across systems. Applicants should have at least 1 year in healthcare records, strong MS Office skills, and a commitment to HIPAA compliance in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting as a Medical Records Technician or similar role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, update, and maintain medical records for each patient.
• Manage appointment system and reminder notices for IHSC staff.
• File and scan laboratory and radiology reports in the EMR.
• Route clinical reports to appropriate staff and ensure timely processing.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of the electronic health record system.
• Assist in data entry, report generation, and tracking of records.
• Work across multiple systems to support accurate medical documentation.
