Job summary

Cognito LLC, a PSI joint venture, seeks a Medical Records Technician to support IHSC at the T. Don Hutto Detention Center in Taylor, TX. The MRT will manage the electronic health records, scan and file documents, schedule appointments, and run reports, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

The role requires working shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a focus on HIPAA compliance and data integrity in a high-demand environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Heartsaver CPR AED certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare setting experience as Medical Records Technician or similar role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
• Knowledge of electronic medical records procedures and HIPAA/privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electronic health records; receive, scan, verify, and file medical documentation.
• Schedule appointments, perform data entry, and run reports from the eHR system.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of the eHR; ensure timely access to information.
• Coordinate document routing, archiving, and completeness checks.
• Support 24/7 operations; respond to mission needs, including emergencies.
