Job summary

Required education includes a High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year in Medical Records or related front-office training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in Medical Records.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred; medical terminology knowledge desired.

Responsibilities

• Understand HIPAA and determine who can access a patient’s records.
• Process electronic faxes and scan medical releases into the EMR.
• Handle medical records requests from patients, providers and legal entities per protocol.
• Follow up with outside doctors’ offices and records companies to manage requests timely.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff.
