Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an Imaging Technician to identify and prepare electronic and paper health information documents for inclusion in the electronic medical record using scanning technology. You will sort, index, and scan documents and create encounters in KP HealthConnect.

Responsibilities include printing labels and barcodes, managing QA checks, and assisting with training. The role requires at least two years of experience handling Protected Health Information, a high school diploma

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of experience handling Protected Health Information.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of a standardized test in medical terminology with proficiency.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Good interpersonal skills with internal and external customers.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and travel to other medical centers if needed.

Responsibilities

• Document Sorting: Determine whether a document should be scanned and separate internal vs external documents.
• Document Preparation: Remove staples, print labels, print barcodes, and create FYI flags as needed.
• Index Documents: Determine encounter numbers and indexing elements like MRN, department, provider, visit date.
• Retrieve information from computer systems to complete indexing and importing tasks.
• Scanning: Batch documents and perform scanning with appropriate hardware/software.
• Quality check: Verify scan quality and proper indexing in KP HealthConnect.
