Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic seeks a Relief Medical Receptionist for Children's Village in Yakima, WA. As the first point of contact, you greet patients, manage schedules, verify insurance, and support providers to keep clinics running smoothly.

Responsibilities include answering calls, data entry, translation, billing basics, and patient advocacy while delivering compassionate, patient-centered service across our clinics in the Pacific Northwest.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year's experience as a Receptionist in a clinic is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills required at a level 9.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
  • Professional interaction with patients, Providers, and staff.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing.

Responsibilities

  • Answers the phone, transfers calls, and takes messages as needed.
  • Greet patients and maintain logs; notify arrival; provide translation as needed.
  • Ensure complete data collection; register new patients and update charts.
  • Schedule appointments; notify providers of no-shows; adjust schedules.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and file documentation; answer insurance questions.
  • Respond to questions in person, by phone, and via patient portal.
  • May perform routine billing, post encounters, and prepare end-of-day reports.
  • Review cash receipts and reconcile daily.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Highlights
  • $17.57-$21.52/hour DOE
  • Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked
What You’ll Do
  • Answers the phone, transfers calls, and takes messages as needed for the clinic
  • Greet patients and maintain patient and visitor logs. Notifies the appropriate person of the patient’s arrival. Provides translation services as needed to patients
  • Ensures accurate and complete data and forms are collected for all patients. Creates and maintains patient charts, registering new patients and updating patient data in the computer
  • Schedules patient appointments according to scheduling guidelines, appointment type, and time needed. Notifies appropriate Provider of all patient no-shows and cancellations. Adjusts and updates the schedule for cancellations, new patients and recall appointments
  • Verifies patient’s insurance eligibility and obtains and files insurance documentation. Assists patients with questions regarding insurance plans as needed
  • Reviews and responds to patients’ questions in person, via phone, and patient portal systems
  • May perform routine billing functions such as posting patient encounters, encouraging payment, taking payments and generating end-of-day reports
  • Reviews cash box receipts and reconciles cash box daily
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year's experience as a Receptionist in a clinic preferred
  • This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 9 is achieved
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills required at a level 9
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to interact with patients, Providers, and staff in a professional manner
  • Ability to deliver outstanding customer serviceBasic knowledge of medical terminology desired
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare billing insurance desired
  • Basic proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
