Company Overview:

American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care providers in the U.S., offering services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Our centers focus on episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capabilities.

AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF). This position works directly with a franchised location, and specific duties and benefits may vary between franchises.

Job Summary:

Accurately check patients in and out by verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining patient records. Maintain patient flow and provide positive patient relations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare the clinic for opening by reviewing the facility, opening systems applications, and preparing registration packets.
  2. Greet patients, provide initial paperwork, and obtain insurance and ID copies.
  3. Register patients, update records, verify insurance, and check patients out.
  4. Determine, collect, and process payments; address billing issues.
  5. Respond promptly to patient needs, provide excellent customer service, assist with follow-ups, and fulfill documentation requests.
  6. Balance daily charges against system reports.
  7. Complete closing procedures and submit reports.
  8. Manage cash control procedures and secure assets.
  9. Maintain accurate documentation.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous medical clerical experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Positive customer service skills.
  • Well-groomed appearance.
  • Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.
