Job summary

New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center (NHOC), a division of Northeast Orthopaedic Alliance (NOA), seeks a friendly Medical Receptionist to join our growing team at 17 Riverside St, Nashua, NH. The schedule is full-time and the location is Nashua, NH.

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will handle check-in/check-out, verify demographics and insurance, collect co-pays, and keep the front office organized with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail are needed.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous customer service experience is preferred; healthcare experience is a plus, but training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check-in patients with professionalism and warmth; verify demographic, insurance, and billing information.
• Process payments, collect co-pays, and ensure required documentation is received.
• Notify providers of cancellations and no-shows; direct questions to appropriate staff.
• Check-out by reviewing visit documentation, scheduling follow-ups, and collecting balances.
• Handle insurance referrals, maintain documentation, and retrieve medical records as needed.

What You'll Do

Patient Check-In

• Welcome patients with professionalism, warmth, and compassion
• Register patients and verify demographic, insurance, and billing information
• Collect co-pays and ensure all required documentation has been received
• Communicate expected wait times and answer general patient questions
• Notify providers of appointment cancellations and no-shows
• Direct patients to the appropriate staff for billing or payment questions

Patient Check-Out

• Review visit documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Schedule follow-up appointments
• Collect patient balances and co-pays
• Assist patients by directing billing questions to the appropriate team members

Office Support

• Process insurance referrals and maintain accurate documentation
• Fax Workers' Compensation forms and other required paperwork
• Retrieve medical records, imaging reports, and other clinical documentation
• Report missed post-operative appointments to physicians and care coordinators
• Send appointment reminders and document patient communications
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office
• Support the team with additional administrative duties as needed

• Previous customer service experience preferred
