Beacon Health System is seeking a friendly Medical Receptionist to join our team in Kalamazoo. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will create a welcoming, organized, and efficient front-desk experience while supporting daily clinical operations.

You will register patients, verify demographics and insurance, schedule appointments, collect payments, and maintain accurate records. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in medical reception, patient registration, healthcare administration, customer service, or a related role preferred.
• Knowledge of medical scheduling, insurance verification, and EMR preferred.
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers and office software.
• Applicable certification or licensure may be considered in lieu of education or experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors professionally.
• Register patients, verify demographic information, and complete check-in/check-out processes.
• Schedule and confirm appointments while maintaining accurate patient records.
• Obtain and verify insurance information, authorizations, and precertifications.
• Process medical records requests in accordance with privacy regulations.
• Collect copays and patient payments, balancing daily transactions and deposits.
• Enter and review charges for services rendered.
• Answer phones, manage patient inquiries, and provide outstanding customer service.
• Support providers and clinical staff with general administrative and clerical duties.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure accurate documentation.
