Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers and basic web-based applications.
• MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs and assisting during procedures.
• Maintains clean, stocked patient care areas and escorts patients to radiology or lab as needed.
• Reviews medication lists in EMR for clinician final review.
• Performs point-of-care testing and ensures quality control of testing equipment.
• Uses EMR to queue prescription renewals and document tasks for proper billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests, verifies insurance and pre-certifications.
• Prepares schedules, patient charts and documents per department standards.
• Conducts check-in, collects copayments and verifies health care proxies.
• Records visit dispositions and informs patients/providers of delays.
• Monitors patient and visitor flow; acts as liaison between patient and staff to ensure smooth service.
