Job description

Medical Office Assistant - Pain Management
  • Facility Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center
  • Schedule - Shift PRN (As needed) - As Needed

Responsible for clinical and administrative tasks related to patient registration, assessments, and scheduling, maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards. Focuses on patient access, satisfaction, accuracy of information, and patient assistance.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Schedules and reschedules appointments and diagnostic tests using computerized programs.
  2. Collects and records vital signs.
  3. Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
  4. Monitors and communicates patient condition changes.
  5. Documents patient care.
  6. Maintains equipment and supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  7. Accepts payments, co-pays, and fees; may reconcile cash receipts.
  8. Communicates effectively with insurance companies, external agencies, patients, physicians, and team members.
  9. Coordinates patient transfers and hospital admissions as needed.
  10. Handles calls, requests for information, and disperses information per policies.
  11. Maintains examination areas.
  12. Performs patient registration, check-out, pre-certifications, pre-procedure instructions, and appointment confirmations.
  13. Retrieves and files records, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
  14. Enters and verifies data in computer systems.
  15. Assists with patient assessments and treatments under supervision.
  16. Greet patients and prepare them for procedures.
  17. Performs order entry as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or higher preferred.

  • Visual requirements include depth perception, color distinction, and seeing near and far.
