Job summary

Catholic Health Physician Practices in New York is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care and keep the practice running smoothly. The role blends clinical tasks with administrative duties to enhance patient experience.

You will prepare exam rooms, take vitals, assist with procedures, and help at the front desk as needed. A NYS-accredited program and BCLS certification are required, with preferred current MA certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a NYS-accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (NHA, AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
• BCLS certification (American Heart Association) required (in-person training).
• Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy and aseptic technique.
• Team-first attitude and commitment to respectful, quality care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms, sanitize, stock supplies, and ensure meds/vaccines are ready for the day.
• Review upcoming appointments and identify gaps in care (mammograms, colonoscopies, immunizations, etc.).
• Escort patients to rooms and manage patient flow to maximize efficiency.
• Take and record vitals, patient history, allergies, medications, and current concerns.
• Assist with procedures, including EKGs, Holter monitors, and in-office testing.
• Collect and process lab specimens; track and document results.
• Perform quality control on equipment and testing materials.
• Help at the front desk when needed — greeting patients, answering phones, verifying insurance.
• Collaborate with providers and the care team to ensure the best patient outcomes.
