Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist for a full-time 2nd shift position in Illinois. You will perform and interpret a range of lab tests, monitor equipment, and ensure quality control while complying with CAP standards.

The role requires a MT/MLS/BT certification pathway completion within 1 year, with opportunities to train staff and contribute to patient care across microbiology and other areas. Excellent communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• No experience required.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Performs quality control and quality assurance for improvement according to established protocol.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Provides training and support to laboratory staff and students as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements.
• Performs proficiency testing and specialty testing across multiple areas.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care appropriate to patient age groups.
