Job description

We are Hiring: Medical Malpractice Paralegal

Compensation: $65,000 - $78,000 / year (Commensurate with experience)

We are seeking a high-caliber Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join our team in Denver.

We are not a high-volume practice. Instead, we focus on a select caseload of high-value, complex, document-intensive matters. We are looking for an adaptable professional who enjoys managing cases from start to finish, rather than those who prefer to only handle one discrete aspect of litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full Case Ownership: Support complex litigation from initial intake straight through to trial.
  • Drafting: Prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Records: Review, obtain, and organize medical records while ensuring strict HIPAA compliance; creating summaries and case timelines; organize discovery and evidence.
  • Research: Conduct legal and factual research.
  • Litigation & Trial Preparation: Coordinate expert witnesses, handle Rule 26 disclosures, prepare for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial.
  • Docketing: Track critical deadlines, court dates, and statutes of limitation.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; serve as a primary point of contact for clients, courts, experts, and opposing counsel.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 4+ years in medical malpractice or complex civil litigation.
  • Critical Thinking: Proven ability to analyze complex file patterns and think strategically; ability to work independently to manage caseload and deadlines.
  • Document Mastery: Experience managing large, document-intensive discovery productions.
  • Medico-Legal Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of state/federal court procedures and discovery rules, with a solid understanding of medical terminology.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with e-filing, case management software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Education: Paralegal certificate, degree, or equivalent experience preferred.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Big-Picture Thinker: Thrives when managing the entire lifecycle of a case, not just a single phase.
  • Analytical: Brings a litigation-focused mindset and strong critical thinking skills to case-management and problem solving.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organization and attention to detail; catches errors others may overlook when dealing with a high volume of records and disclosures.
  • Proactive: Comfortable managing multiple cases and attorneys independently while anticipating case needs and deadlines.
  • Adaptable: Learns quickly, embraces new challenges, and adjusts effectively to changing priorities.
  • Professional: Fully committed to strict confidentiality and excellence.
