Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technologist in Illinois for a day shift (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.). The role involves performing and monitoring lab tests, calibrations, quality control, and specimen collection from patients of all ages.

Minimum education includes a NAACLS-approved Medical Technology program or equivalent, with no experience required. Strong communication skills are essential for collaboration with departments and learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or NAACLS-approved Medical Technology program or equivalent.
• No experience required.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Implements quality control and QA measures and takes corrective action as needed.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients per protocol.
• Provides training and guidance to medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists and staff.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting agency standards and CAP requirements in acute settings.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports specialty testing areas such as transfusion, microbiology and hematology.
• Supports critical care departments during high acuity events with timely results.
• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care appropriate to age of patients served.
