Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform moderate- and high-complexity testing across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology, ensuring accurate results and timely reporting.

You will troubleshoot instrumentation, maintain equipment, and mentor staff while meeting CLIA standards and participating in quality improvement activities. This is a full-time day shift within Mercyhealth’s integrated system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Associates with MLT certification and qualification to perform high complexity testing per CLIA 493.1489.
• MT/MLS Generalist Certification or Specialty Certification in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology or Microbiology within 12 months of hire; or MLT Certification with 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity lab tests across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology.
• Ensure accurate results, document quality control and report results in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and test results, maintain equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Train and mentor laboratory staff; participate in competency checks and method/instrument evaluation.
• Maintain CLIA compliance and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
