Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform high-complexity testing across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology. You will troubleshoot instrumentation, document QC, maintain equipment, and ensure timely reporting of results.

The role requires MT/MLS credentials or an MT degree with MLT certification, plus CLIA-compliant qualifications within 12 months of hire. On-site in Rockford, IL with full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or MT/MLS track; required to perform high complexity testing per CLIA 493.1489.
• MT/MLS Generalist Certification or Specialty Certification in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology or Microbiology required within 12 months of hire.
• OR Associate degree in Medical Technology with MLT certification and qualification for high complexity testing per CLIA 493.1489.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate and high complexity lab tests per CLIA and defined policies.
• Ensure quality control and proficiency testing; document QC activities.
• Troubleshoot test results and instrument issues; perform maintenance/calibration as needed.
• Interpret results and report to chart with turnaround times.
• Train or mentor laboratory staff and new partners; participate in competency checks.
