Job summary

Mercyhealth seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform specimen collection and comprehensive laboratory testing across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, and microbiology. You will ensure quality control, participate in calibration, and help train new partners and students in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in medical laboratory science or military equivalent.
• Qualified to perform high complexity testing per CLIA 493.1489 Standard.
• MLT certification within one year of hire per CLIA guidance.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens.
• Perform lab tests in hematology, urinalysis, chemistry, blood bank or microbiology.
• Analyze test results prior to release of information for validity.
• Ensure designated turnaround times and report critical results.
• Perform quality control and proficiency testing as defined by policy.
• Interpret and troubleshoot quality control results.
• Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of instrumentation.
• Participate in method and instrument evaluation and training of new partners and students.
