Position Summary

Under the direction of a Technical Specialist/Team Leader and/or Division Manager, performs routine, moderate, and complex laboratory tests requiring independent judgment and some interpretation. Monitors quality of reagents and working conditions of instruments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform analytical tests within assigned work areas in the Clinical Pathology Department, following established guidelines.
2. Resolve problems with specimens, monitor and correct factors affecting test results.
3. Recognize abnormal test results, notify appropriate personnel, and document findings.
4. Certify the accuracy of quality control results and alert laboratory personnel when issues arise.
5. Provide test results to physicians and nursing units as per protocol.
6. Decontaminate surfaces, instruments, and work areas according to protocol.
7. Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, verification, and troubleshooting of instruments.
8. Address customer service issues following department protocols.
9. Accession and label specimens to expedite testing and processing.
10. Train students and new staff on proper laboratory techniques.
11. Monitor reagent and supply levels, notifying personnel of shortages.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Associate's degree or higher in medical laboratory science or technology, or equivalent training.

Experience

• 6 to 12 months of relevant laboratory experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• MLT-Medical Lab Technician (ASCP) or equivalent within 1 year.

This position offers a hiring range of $26.083 - $39.372.
