Job summary

Pride Health is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist for a 13-week assignment in State College, PA. You will perform accurate analyses of blood and body fluids, maintain proficiency across departments, and ensure timely reporting of results.

Work 40 hours per week, day shifts, with potential extension. A Bachelor's degree and MT/MLS certification are required; Blood Bank and Microbiology experience are preferred. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current MT/MLS certification through ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent is required.
  • Blood Bank and Microbiology experience preferred.
  • Ability to work across multiple clinical laboratory departments.
  • Strong attention to detail with specimen identification and result verification.
  • Ability to troubleshoot laboratory instruments and procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to laboratory quality and regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies.

Job description

Assignment Length: 13 Weeks + Possible Extension
Schedule: 5x8 | 40 hours/week
Shift: Day’s
Pay Rate: $1850-$2000/week
Responsibilities:
  • Perform accurate and timely laboratory analyses on blood and other body fluids for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Maintain proficiency across all clinical laboratory departments.
  • Prepare, identify, log, and process specimens accurately according to established procedures.
  • Perform manual and automated testing and promptly report qualitative and quantitative results.
  • Review results for accuracy, completeness, delta checks, and consistency with previous results or diagnosis.
  • Follow quality control procedures and repeat testing when results fall outside established criteria.
  • Troubleshoot instrument and procedural issues and elevate problems to supervisors when necessary.
  • Perform specimen collection while strictly verifying patient identification.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, reagents, and supplies in proper working condition.
  • Monitor instrument performance daily and communicate equipment issues or potential testing delays promptly.
  • Participate in proficiency testing, quality assurance, safety, infection control, and laboratory compliance activities.
  • Assist with training technical personnel and demonstrate laboratory techniques as requested.
  • Assist with implementing and evaluating new procedures, methodologies, products, and equipment.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of reagents and supplies while supporting cost-effective utilization.
  • Maintain current knowledge of laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital departments, medical staff, patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory accuracy, efficiency, workflow, and patient care.
  • Provide support to coworkers and perform additional duties as assigned by laboratory leadership.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current certification as MT or MLS through ASCP, AMT, NCCLS, or equivalent.
  • Blood Bank and Microbiology experience preferred.
  • Ability to work across multiple clinical laboratory departments.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent specimen identification and result verification skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot laboratory instruments and testing procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to laboratory quality, safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Must be available primarily for evening shifts with weekend rotation, working five 8-hour shifts per week.
