Job summary

Pride Health is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to perform clinical testing across Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunology and other areas in a critical access hospital setting.

You will perform ABO/Rh testing, antibody screens, crossmatching, and transfusion workups, operate Beckman AU480, Access2, DxH 600/DxH 520, ACL TOP 300 and GEM 5000, document results in Cerner, and float to adjacent facilities as needed. Certification and hospital experience required.

Qualifications

  • AMT or ASCP certification is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital clinical laboratory experience.
  • Strong Blood Bank and Beckman instrument experience.
  • ACL TOP experience required.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
  • Must be comfortable with listed testing and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory analyzers, including Beckman AU480, Beckman Access2, Beckman DxH 600/DxH 520, ACL TOP 300, GEM 5000.
  • Document laboratory activities and results in Cerner.
  • Float as required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals.
  • Perform specimen collection, accessioning, receipt, processing, transport, and accurate reporting of results.
  • Perform venipuncture and other required specimen collection procedures.
  • Conduct manual urinalysis, microscopic UA, wet prep, crystal identification, occult blood testing, and other routine laboratory procedures.
  • Follow laboratory quality-control, safety, and regulatory procedures.
  • Work with patients ranging from pediatrics and adolescents to adults and geriatrics.

Job description

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing for inpatient and outpatient services in a critical access hospital.
  • Perform testing across Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunology, and other laboratory areas.
  • Perform ABO/Rh testing, antibody screens and identification, crossmatching, electronic crossmatching, and transfusion reaction workups.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory analyzers, including Beckman AU480, Beckman Access2, Beckman DxH 600/DxH 520, ACL TOP 300, GEM 5000, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Perform CBCs, manual differentials, platelet counts, arterial blood gases, hormone/thyroid testing, immunoassays, therapeutic drug monitoring, and rapid diagnostic testing.
  • Perform specimen collection, accessioning, receipt, processing, transport, and accurate reporting of results.
  • Perform venipuncture and other required specimen collection procedures.
  • Conduct manual urinalysis, microscopic UA, wet prep, crystal identification, occult blood testing, and other routine laboratory procedures.
  • Follow laboratory quality-control, safety, and regulatory procedures.
  • Work with patients ranging from pediatrics and adolescents to adults and geriatrics.
  • Document laboratory activities and results in Cerner.
  • Float as required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals.
Requirements
  • AMT or ASCP certification required — MLS, MT, or MLT credentials accepted as specified.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required; job posting also identifies 18 months as a general minimum.
  • Strong Blood Bank experience required.
  • Strong Beckman experience required.
  • ACL TOP experience required.
  • First-time travelers are accepted.
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with the listed laboratory testing and instrumentation.
