Job summary

Pride Health is seeking a Medical/Clinical Lab Technologist in West Bend, WI for an 5x8 schedule (40 hours/week) with an evening shift. The position involves performing clinical lab procedures, specimen handling, quality control, and instrument maintenance, with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Requirements include an accredited associate degree with internship, potential military equivalents, ASCP MLT/MLS certification within 6–12 months, and 2+ years of lab experience preferred, plus blood

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology with clinical internship completed within 2 months of hire.
  • Alternative qualification: military experience and training aligned with CLIA/CAP requirements.
  • ASCP MLT/MLS certification required within 6 months to 1 year of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Blood collection experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control procedures and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Operate instrumentation and maintain equipment.
  • Document results in LIS/EMR and communicate critical issues.
  • Maintain clean workstations and adhere to laboratory procedures.
  • Assist training and participate in competency assessments.
  • Prioritize workloads and provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Job description

Job Title: Medical/ Clinical Lab Technologist

Schedule: 5x8 | 40 hours/week

Shift: Evening’s

Pay Rate: $1800-$1950/week

Responsibilities:

  • Perform clinical laboratory procedures using established protocols with minimal technical supervision.
  • Perform specimen procurement, processing, blood collection, and testing accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform and document required quality control procedures; investigate and correct out-of-control or discrepant results.
  • Operate laboratory instrumentation according to established procedures and perform/document required maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot basic instrument issues and contact technical support when appropriate.
  • Interpret and verify test results; recognize abnormal or inconsistent results and investigate appropriately.
  • Promptly communicate critical issues, delays, discrepancies, equipment problems, and potential patient-care concerns to leadership.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the LIS, EMR, and other applicable systems.
  • Maintain clean, organized workstations and comply with established laboratory procedures and standards.
  • Investigate problems, implement corrective actions, and document findings and resolutions.
  • Assist with error detection, investigation, and documentation and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Participate in training students and new employees and assist with training curriculum development as needed.
  • Successfully complete required competency assessments and participate in continuing education.
  • Prioritize and manage fluctuating workloads while completing assignments accurately and within established timelines.
  • Provide effective customer service and respond appropriately to inquiries, requests, and concerns.
  • Perform additional duties, studies, and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, including required clinical internship, obtained within 2 months of hire.
  • Alternatively, qualifying combined military experience and training aligned with CLIA and CAP requirements.
  • MLT or MLS certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent is required within 6 months to 1 year of hire, as applicable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Clinical laboratory experience with laboratory procedures, quality control, specimen procurement and processing, and instrument operation/maintenance preferred.
  • Blood collection experience preferred.
