Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Leonardtown, MD

Job Type: 13 Weeks Contract

Shifts: Night Shift | 4x10 hours | 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform complex laboratory procedures in a hospital setting, with a focus on accurate and timely diagnostic testing during night shifts. This role is suited for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments, are detail-oriented, and understand the workflow demands of overnight clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct a wide range of laboratory testing, including specimen preparation, automated and manual testing, and quality control.
• Perform tests such as urinalysis, hormone/thyroid panels, cardiac enzymes, PCR testing (COVID, MRSA, flu), tumor markers, immunoassays, and microbial cultures.
• Utilize lab instruments for analysis, including manual differential counts and crystal identification.
• Ensure proper specimen labeling, transport, accessioning, and reporting of test results.
• Follow infection control protocols and hazardous material handling procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Adhere to safety standards, transmission precautions, and proper disposal methods.

Qualifications:

• Certification: ASCP-MLS or ASCP-MLT certification required.
• Experience: 5 years of hospital laboratory experience .
• Open to candidates with less experience if familiar with night shift workflow.
• Previous charge experience .
