Medical Laboratory Technician - Float, Full Time

Job Summary

Performs laboratory tests of moderate and high complexity, prepares records of test results, and maintains instruments, equipment, and supplies.

• Prepares and calibrates test instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Prepares and collects specimens, performs laboratory tests as per procedures manual.
• Discusses unexpected or unreasonable results with supervisor.
• Reports test results and data by entering information into the computer database.
• Prepares, distributes, and files forms and reports.
• Cleans instruments and equipment after tests.
• Performs maintenance and minor repairs on instruments and equipment.
• Recognizes malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Assists new staff in learning laboratory procedures.
• Performs other related duties as directed.

Note: $10,000 sign-on bonus available.

Shift Details

Variable 8-hour shifts between evenings and nights, Monday to Friday with weekend rotations as needed.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum two (2) years of current experience in a clinical laboratory or related field required; waiver for current KP Coalition employees.

Education

• Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences, or medical laboratory technology, or completed US military medical laboratory training of at least 50 weeks with Military Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician) designation.

Licenses and Certifications

• Medical Technologist Certificate from ASCP, or Medical Lab Scientist Certificate from AAB, or Medical Lab Scientist Certificate from AMT, or Medical Lab Technician Certificate from AMT, or similar certifications listed.
