Qualifications

• Exhibits technical skills and aptitudes related to laboratory testing, procedures, and processes.
• Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English with patients, staff, partners, and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner.
• Reads text and numbers in English, and demonstrates comprehension, measurement, problem solving under supervision.
• Applies computer-related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and results per regulations and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety policies, including PPE use, handwashing, hazardous chemical handling, and Infection Control policies.
• Transports hazardous waste to designated storage areas and completes training for handling and disposal.
• Performs pre-analytical activities including equipment maintenance, inventory control, specimen collection, processing, and calibration.
• Conducts tests and analytical procedures according to hospital procedures and standards.
• Participates in proficiency testing and adheres to federal and state regulations.
• Performs post-analytical activities including reporting results and providing support information.
• Supports education for clinical staff and participates in performance improvement activities.
