Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a dedicated laboratory professional to join our team. You will perform a range of lab duties including point of care testing, specimen handling, and phlebotomy across age groups, while ensuring accuracy and safety in a fast-paced environment.

You'll support clerical tasks, maintain equipment, and participate in training of new staff, contributing to high-quality patient care and adherence to infection control policies.

Qualifications

• Technical skills related to laboratory procedures performed in the assigned area.
• Ability to read and communicate in English with patients and staff.
• Understanding of quality control, documentation, and regulatory guidelines.
• Ability to effectively document results and follow hospital policies.
• Familiarity with lab safety, PPE, and chemical handling.
• Ability to operate computer systems and hospital information platforms.

Responsibilities

• May perform point of care testing, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting and result reporting.
• Perform clerical and receptionist duties as needed to support the department.
• Handle blood and blood component processing, storage, and shipment using validated systems.
• Transport hazardous waste per policy and complete required training.
• Collect patient and order information to create accounts and verify details.
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection for all ages as required.
• Receive, process and transport patient specimens, including centrifugation and aliquoting.
• Prepare specimens and load preanalytical instruments or deliver to testing areas.
• Train new staff and students as assigned and act as a preceptor.
• Address customer service issues per guidelines and support clinical staff.
