Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Generalist to join the hospital laboratory team in Louisiana. You will perform routine and specialized tests, ensure quality control, and maintain instrumentation with strict regulatory compliance.

The role requires a CLS Generalist license and timely certification within the probation period. You will collaborate with clinicians, handle data entry, and participate in improvement initiatives while ensuring patient confidentiality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical/biological sciences.
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (or trainee/license) and obtain within 90 days of hire.
• ASCP/AMT/AAB generalist certification within 90 days of hire; applicable certifications if working in Academic Medical Center facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret routine and specialized laboratory testing within established time frames.
• Maintain quality control and instrument maintenance; document corrective actions.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation standards are followed.
• Assist in performance improvement and cost-reduction initiatives by managing supplies and reagents.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adapt communications to patient population.
