Job summary

ProMedica's Defiance Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Laboratory department. This per diem role involves performing complex lab tests, interpreting results, and communicating findings to the health care team.

You will handle specimen processing, operate instruments, and maintain quality control while adhering to regulatory standards. Collaboration with clinicians and continuing professional development are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master's/Doctoral degree in CLS or MT from an accredited program.
• ASCP MLS or categorical eligibility with certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing and analyzes biological specimens.
• Maintains hospital and departmental policies; complies with accrediting bodies.
• Operates instruments and performs procedures within training scope.
• Maintains quality control records and interprets results.
• Acts as liaison between laboratory and health care team; ensures patient confidentiality.
• Instructs new associates and students; assesses competencies.
• Completes required CE units and mandatory in-services.
• Provides guidance in the absence of on-site supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's/Master's/Doctoral degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology

ASCP MLS or Categorical eligible with certification within 1 year
