Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or related field preferred.
• Alternate degrees accepted with relevant clinical lab training.
• Associates in Lab Science/Med Tech also acceptable.
• Qualifying under 42 CFR 493 is noted for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and recording results.
• Maintain proficiency testing records and ensure testing aligns with patient samples.
• Analyze specimens using approved procedures and review/release results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines; escalate performance issues.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify senior staff.
• Adhere to laboratory policies when test systems exceed acceptable performance.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of test outcomes.

Education

BS in Medical Technology preferred

BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology

Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology

Previously qualified as Technologist under 42 CFR 493
