Job summary

Advocate Health in Illinois is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Core Lab on a full-time day shift. This role performs laboratory analyses on received specimens and ensures overall quality, safety, and efficiency in assigned duties.

Responsibilities include performing and reporting complex tests per FDA, CAP, and other standards; maintaining equipment; training staff; managing reagents/inventory; and collaborating with pathologists as needed to support accurate diagnoses.

Qualifications

• Must hold MLS/MT/CLS registrations with the board or equivalently recognized.
• BS in science with required chemistry/biology/math hours.
• Core Lab and hematology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform, review, and report complex tests per FDA, CAP, AABB, and JCI standards.
• Maintain equipment, organize work area, and manage QC procedures.
• Manage reagents and inventory to minimize waste and cost.
• Assist in training new staff and student teaching when needed.
• Collaborate with lead/ supervisor on unusual results and safety.
