Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Core Lab. The role involves performing and reporting complex tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all assigned duties.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, plus a bachelor’s degree with science coursework. Certification or eligibility with ASCP/AMT is expected within 12 months if not already certified.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School or GED Diploma.
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with science coursework (chemistry/biology/math).
• Registry or certification as medical laboratory professional is preferred; certification within 12 months if not currently certified.

Responsibilities

• Perform, review, and report complex laboratory tests according to procedures and standards.
• Maintain equipment, organize workload, and ensure timely processing in the Core Lab.
• Troubleshoot testing and QC issues following standard lab procedures.
• Utilize Laboratory Information System and follow downtime procedures.
• Assist in training new staff and students, and support safety and biohazard practices.
