Advocate Health is seeking a full-time Laboratory Support Associate in Illinois. The role supports specimen handling, data entry, and communication with physicians and staff to ensure accurate testing workflows.

The position requires strong attention to detail and customer service in a fast-paced lab setting. Key duties include labeling and verifying specimens, entering test requests, handling inquiries, and assisting with inventory and training of new staff.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and professional interaction with physicians, patients, and staff.
• Able to use basic computer applications and enter data accurately.
• Strong keyboarding and typing skills in a fast-paced lab environment.
• Ability to multitask with general supervision and maintain quality standards.
• Customer service focus when interfacing with callers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing; resolves identification issues.
• Obtains billing/insurance information and verifies diagnosis codes when needed.
• Enters and verifies test requests into the lab computer system.
• Answers and screens telephone calls and supports front-desk tasks.
• Receives, sorts, and stores specimens; handles transport and storage logistics.
• Processes specimens for testing, including aliquoting with proper identification.
• Reviews reports and distributes necessary documentation to teams.
• Assists with inventory and ordering of lab supplies.
• Trains new employees and serves as a resource for the team.
