Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a capable Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a range of routine and complex analyses on clinical specimens under supervision. The role includes operating, calibrating and maintaining lab instrumentation, with opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to ongoing technology updates.

Requirements include an ASCP-eligible associate degree and certification within a year of hire.

Qualifications

• Assoc. or higher required; fulfill ongoing education for ASCP certification.
• MLT/ASCP certification or equivalent within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex lab procedures to provide quality clinical information.
• Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation; addresses QC issues.
• Keeps current with evolving technologies in the lab.
• May collect and process patient specimens per policies and timelines.
• Maintains clean work area and adequate supplies for efficient lab operations.
• May mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy staff and new employees in testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
