THE ROLE: MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN, MICROBIOLOGY
AHA’s Cincinnati Laboratory has a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician, Microbiology opening! Experience with progressive responsibility in medical microbiology in a large hospital or reference laboratory setting. Individual must possess strong microbiology/technical background and excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with Beckman, Abbott, or Siemens instrumentation preferred.
This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently. The employee must be able to demonstrate efficient laboratory testing techniques, and quality control while maintaining acceptable turn-around-time and compliance. The employee must be able to effectively communicate in English for training, responding to inquiries and reporting purposes.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform testing as assigned.
· Perform required Quality Control testing.
· Perform Proficiency Testing when assigned
· Review Patient Reports as testing occurs to perform repeat analysis if required
· Monitor supply inventories to assure they are adequate for the workload
· Perform routine instrument maintenance as required
· Review and assist in updating of Standard Operating Procedures
· Report concerns to Laboratory Management on the status of testing as required
· Maintain work area cleanliness and organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Associate/Bachelor's degree in a related field
· Prior clinical laboratory experience required
· Minimum of 1 year - Microbiology experience preferred.
· Experience in high volume testing a plus.
· Major lab instrument familiarity (Beckman, Abbott, Siemens), a plus.
