Job summary

Mercy Health in Anderson is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) to perform routine tests on blood and other specimens, delivering accurate results to physicians. A BS in CLS/MLS/Biology/Biochemistry with CLIA-approved program and ASCP eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA approved program.
• MLS Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (ASCP preferred) (required).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, accurate manner per procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspections and abnormal results.
• Recognizes factors affecting measurements and acts per protocols.
• Performs quality control and ensures results meet established ranges.
• Maintains safe, clean work environment and troubleshoots equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
