Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for Perrysburg Medical Center. The MLS will perform routine tests on blood and other specimens and provide quality results to physicians while ensuring patient safety and anonymity.

Essential duties include test analysis, specimen acceptability, quality control, equipment maintenance, and adherence to lab protocols. A BS in clinical/lab science and MLS certification (or eligibility) are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA approved program (required).
• MLS certification or eligible by a recognized agency (preferably ASCP) (required).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens accurately and timely.
• Assesses specimen acceptability by visual inspection and result review.
• Identifies factors affecting measurements and acts per protocols.
• Performs quality control and ensures results meet established ranges.
• Maintains safe, clean work area and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
