Job summary

Mercy Health in Toledo, OH is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) for the St. Vincent Medical Center Medical Office Building 2. The MLS performs routine tests on blood and other specimens and provides quality results to physicians while ensuring patient safety and anonymity.

Requires a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field through a CLIA-approved program and MLS certification or eligibility (ASCP preferred). Externship completed is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field (CLIA approved program).
• MLS certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (ASCP preferred).
• Externship program completed (preferred).
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment; engage with staff and patients professionally.

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by inspection and recognizing abnormal results.
• Performs quality control and ensures results are accurate before release to physicians.
